Detgen's studying in Konstanz (a beautiful lakeside town that I have not yet visited) and she trekked the 5 hour train ride to Munich for the last weekend of Oktoberfest. We had fun, but it certainly wasn't easy getting through the throngs of people that bombarded the city. Luckily, most everyone was only on the Oktoberfest grounds, so we could easily explore the rest of the city.
